I believe mindfulness creates opportunities to learn and grow. Throughout the art making process a student learns to problem solve and become a critical thinker. I am not the gatekeeper of knowledge, I am a mistake-making human and will learn to problem solve along with my students. The thinking skills learned and practiced in Art class can transfer over to other content areas to help my student solve any problem. I encourage my students to think for themselves and be open to new ideas.

"Knowledge emerges only through invention and reinvention, through restless, impatient, continuing, hopeful inquiry (we) pursue in the world, with the world and with each other."

Artist Bio

I was born in Minnesota but moved to Colorado with my mother when I was 6.

I studied Art Education at Metropolitan State University of Denver and will graduate with a BFA in Art education in December 2020.

My art is about time and place and where I find myself in the moment.

The biggest challenge for me is finding time to create art. It can be difficult to make art a priority in my busy life which includes a hubby, 3 kids, 3 dogs, 1 cat and a few chickens.

My thesis work, Indebted, focuses on the ways in which my life and the life of others have been changed by the

My printmaking has been exhibited in Thank You, Call Again, Juried by Kelsey Stephenson, Galerie Gaulin, Alberta College of Art + Design, Calgary, Alberta Canada. I have exhibited in local art shows including the MetroNow show in Denver CO.

I am excited to finally become an art teacher so I can share my love of art with those that want to learn.
